You are welcome to try the intro class out without a piano. We work on reading music, identifying piano keys, etc. that allows you to still benefit if you don't have a piano yet. The class is also recorded and available for up to 7 days, so if you want to revisit it after getting your piano, you can. After the first class, a piano or keyboard will be needed.
88-keys is the standard full-size piano. 76-keys is the recommended bare minimum you will want. If you run out of piano keys, the songs that you can play is limited.
Brands like Yamaha and Kawai have a good combination of quality sound and construction. Electronic keyboards and clavinovas can also be a great option. Just make sure the keys are touch-sensitive and there is a port to plug a damper pedal in.
